Jennifer Chen, PsyD

East Bay Clinical Psychologist

Therapy to help you heal, grow, and thrive.

Specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-based interventions for adolescents and adults.

Evidence-Based Treatments

I use evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care to treat a myriad of psychological and interpersonal problems that are interfering with your daily functioning, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, PTSD, work dissatisfaction, lack of assertiveness, emotional dysregulation, and more. I provide culturally-sensitive treatment and am mindful of intersectional identities when working with my patients.

My Approach

I seek to create a safe, warm and nonjudgmental environment in therapy, while helping you to identify key thought patterns and specific barriers or behaviors that are stopping you from living a more fulfilling life. Therapy has many benefits, including helping you to find new ways of relating to your thoughts and emotions, deepen awareness and insight into your patterns, and learn effective coping skills -- ultimately to help you attain your goals and foster balanced living.

About Me

I am from the Bay Area and am a Cal Berkeley alum. I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium in Palo Alto. I have had extensive training and experience in inpatient and outpatient hospitals, VA medical centers, forensic settings, and community mental health clinics in the Bay Area and New York City. I am also passionate about teaching and training new therapists and utilize a social justice and intersectional lens in my work.
